Abstract

Many Korean companies have been establishing overseas subsidiaries in developing countries through foreign direct investment to find a breakthrough in the global competition. As the number of countries by overseas subsidiaries entered is increased, the diversity of languages ​​is increased. Even though the scale of the business has become a global company, the management system has been operated in the center of domestic system. It is a common phenomenon in a global company that mother tongue is hard to be official language. Global management system to be operating well should be good communication between headquarters and overseas subsidiaries, overseas subsidiaries and overseas subsidiaries. The language is an important factor of the communication. The role of language in global business is important, but it is lacking in terms of academic research and the enterprise level. For this reason, this paper analyse change management strategy through the English common language project of LG Electronics by the Lewin's three change management stages. The five areas of English common language project in LG Electronics is English meeting, organization knowledge, English e-mail, English working system and English written materials for R&D and Quality function. The results of the English common language project showed that contributed to the establishment of a global management system and global organization culture.
