KBR Manuscript Preparation Guidelines
2017. 03. 30. Revised
2019. 05. 20. Revised
2025. 07. 00. Revised
I. KBR Manuscript Format
- Manuscripts must be prepared using MS Word on A4 paper, single-sided, with 35 lines per page, and should not exceed 30 pages.
| Manuscript Formatting Standards | |
|---|---|
| Font | Shinmyeongjo (Korean), Times New Roman (English) |
| Line Spacing | 160% (Korean), Double-spaced (English) |
| Font Size | Main title 16 (bold), Subheading 10 (bold), Third-level heading 10, Body text 10 |
| Margins | Top 25.5mm, Bottom 19mm, Left/Right 23.5mm, Header 13mm / Footer 10mm (Korean) 1 inch (2.54cm) (English) |
- The manuscript must include a Korean abstract, body text, references, and an English abstract. For cases, these four components must be submitted together in the order of Korean abstract, body text, references, and English abstract for the review to proceed (for English-language manuscripts, the order of the Korean and English abstracts is reversed). Case study manuscripts must additionally include a teaching note at the end of the manuscript.
- The first page of the manuscript should display the title in Korean and the number of pages. Information about the author's institutional affiliation and contact details should not be included.
- All manuscripts must be accompanied by a cover letter. The cover letter must state that the manuscript has not been published in or is not under concurrent review at other journals. However, an exception is made for papers presented at conferences or symposia. Additionally, all authors must disclose any conflicts of interest, including financial relationships or research funding from companies or competing companies discussed in the manuscript. This information will be treated as confidential during the review process, and the editorial board member may consult with the author regarding whether to disclose it. If the manuscript includes copyrighted materials such as tables or figures from other sources, a letter of authorization from the copyright holder (typically the publisher) must be obtained and submitted.
- As the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based technologies in research and manuscript preparation increases, authors must indicate whether large language models (LLMs), chatbots, image generators, or other AI tools were used when submitting manuscripts. If AI was used, authors must provide a detailed explanation in the cover letter of how the technology was utilized in the research and manuscript preparation process.
-
A Korean abstract should be provided before the body text.
- The Korean abstract should summarize the manuscript content in approximately 20 lines and be placed immediately after the manuscript title.
- The body text should be written following the conventional structure of academic papers. Endnotes should be placed as a separate list at the end of the body text, not as footnotes at the bottom of each page. Endnotes must be indicated using sequential superscript Arabic numerals in the body text. Endnotes should be kept concise and include only brief explanations that are tangential to the main argument of the paper, and should not contain references.
- References should be listed on a separate page following the body text. All references must be written in English and follow the APA 7th edition format.
- The English abstract should be approximately 20 lines and limited to one page, with keywords listed below in alphabetical order. The use of abbreviations should be avoided where possible.
- Each manuscript must include the date of submission, the date of review completion, the date of acceptance, and the DOI.
II. KBR Manuscript Language and Notation
- For Korean-language manuscripts, Korean is the primary language, and Chinese characters and foreign terms should be indicated in parentheses when necessary.
- Section numbering in the body text should not use hierarchical labels such as "Chapter" or "Section," but should follow this format:
Chapter number: I. Section number: 1.1 Subsection number: 1.1.1 Paragraph number: 1.1.1.1 - For both Korean-language and English-language manuscripts, all references must be written in English.
- Academic terms should be written in Korean whenever possible. If translation is difficult, they may be written in English. To aid understanding of translated terms, the English equivalent may be added in parentheses.
III. KBR Short Papers
- Short papers must be written in clear and readable English.
- The paper style should follow the KBR guidelines, with a maximum length of 2,500 words (excluding references, tables, and figures). It is recommended that the basic paper structure be followed, including an abstract (maximum 150 words), introduction, methodology/analysis (if applicable), discussion of implications, conclusion, and teaching note (for case study papers only).
- Accepted papers will be published in the KBR Research & Insights section.
IV. KBR Manuscript Tables and Figures
- Tables, Figures, and Exhibits should be appropriately utilized to enhance educational convenience. All tables and figures must be drawn clearly, and should be numbered sequentially in the order they appear, using the format <Table 1>, <Figure 1> within angle brackets. Table titles should be centered above the table, and titles and legends should be concise yet provide sufficient information to understand the content.
- Tables and Figures must be written in English and placed on separate pages immediately following the references section when submitted. Within the body text, the location of tables and figures should be indicated as "<Table 1> about here."
V. KBR Reference Citation Format
- All literature cited in the body text must be included in the reference list. If this principle is not followed, the Editorial Board may reject publication even if reviewers have accepted the manuscript.
- References should be listed on a new page at the end of the body text, arranged alphabetically by the author's family name. Publications by the same author should be listed in chronological order.
The following are examples of APA (7th edition) style references for various source types.
