Abstract
Digital transformation has emerged as an important phenomenon in academics as well as practitioners. However, we lack a comprehensive understanding and conceptualization of digital transformation. Here, we seek to evaluate the current level of digital transformation for 10 major Korean public corporations. Based on extant literature, we have built a digital transformation framework with four areas (i.e., customer experience, operation, strategy, organization) and have identified 12 significant elements assessing the level of digital transformation. Using the case study method, 10 public corporations are evaluated with 12 elements of digital transformation. The results indicate relatively strong performances in operation and customer experience areas, whereas significant improvements are needed for organization and strategy areas to accelerate digital transformation. Our study provides meaningful implications in implementing digital transformation for both the public and private sectors.
