Abstract
There have been active discussions about creating shared values(CSV), which pursues economic and social values simultaneously, in recent years, but there is a shortage of research that analyzed the CSV cases of South Korean corporations. This study thus analyzed the CSV case of Samsung Electronics and identified its strategic CSV elements. The investigator used the diamond model by Michael E. Porter as the analysis framework in that CSV was a management strategy for corporations to secure their competitive edges. The analysis results show that Samsung Electronics had such strategic elements as using its resources for CSV activities, selecting the content of activities through enough market researches, engaging in activities for the low-income class, establishing infrastructure in links with nonprofit and international organizations, making use of sustainable and environment-friendly technologies and natural resources, and having its executives and staff members lavish their active interest and support on CSV. The present study is timely and significant in that it analyzed a CSV case of a South Korean corporation at a time when there were active discussions about CSV.
