Pricing Strategy of Korean Music Contents Service

Abstract

Music contents service industry is growing in the business environment, related other entertainment contents such game, drama, movie, and animation. Also it has developed to new markets of background music, mobile bell sound, or ring back tone. However recent Korean music contents service industry has be changed by digital sound source product and online based distribution channels. Hence new price strategy of the industry was needed to value protection of music contents and entering the global market. To discuss the solutions, this paper analyzed the industry based on five factors; 'efficiency', 'calculability', 'predicatbility', 'control', 'irrationality of rationality' by Ritzer(2004)' McDonaldization theory. Finally the article suggests the participation of music producers to decide the music contents price and using the online open market platform.
