Nine Success DNA and Fundamental Principle of Shared Growth in POSCO: Focussed on Supply Chain Side

Abstract
This paper describes the fundamental principles underlying various activities of shared growth of POSCO which have attracted attention from the industry for the past 10 years. This paper thoroughly examines POSCO which has successfully managed shared growth until now, through the internal materials in POSCO and the interviews with internal and partner companies’ executives. Nine success DNA of shared growth in POSCO are derived through this case analysis. Those are 1) the CEO‘s resolute leadership for shared growth, 2) organization wholly responsible for shared growth and shared growth programs, 3) developing innovation capability based on learning, 4) enforcing collaboration based on trust, 5) establishing open innovation system, 6) continuous motivation for internal employees, 7) continuous assessment and management for partners, 8) ’FOCUS‘, integrated ’Benefit Sharing‘ program, and 9) ecosystem management capability. We also deducted a dynamic model of shared growth based on these 9 success factors and finally suggested implications for managers and government policy makers.
