Abstract
There has been limitation to explain the passionate usages and behaviors of smartphone users simply with rationality or cognition based theories such as Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). To overcome the limitation that such previous theories have had in explaining the adoption or usages of new information technologies, this study tries to introduce the SOR(Stimulus-Organism-Response) theory and propose an integrated framework including a viewpoint of emotion and emotional processes of smartphone users. To validate a proposed model, this study analyzed the 442 usable questionnaires of smartphone users. The findings of this study are as follows: Firstly, both sensory capability and telecommunication quality significantly influenced positive affect of smartphone users in a viewpoint of emotional processes. Secondly, ease of use as well as perceived usefulness had a positive impact on intention to use in a cognition view. Finally, both positive affect and intention to use were found to lead to the smartphone usage of users while positive affect increases intention to use. This study implies that emotional factor as well as cognitive one are all important in explaining the usage of new and sensory information technologies such as smartphones.
