Abstract

Social enterprises are different from ordinary enterprises. Social enterprises have to pursue social goals and business margin simultaneously. They also may get effectiveness and efficiency with creativity and achieve the social goals at some areas where governments and public organizations are not successful sometimes. But most of social enterprises lies in the difficult environment to do business and they can not invest R&D resources for original technology and innovation. It is not easy to raise the money to invest for new products and services. To overcome the various kinds of difficulties and to get social goal & money for long survival,social enterprises must have business model and make strategy for vision. This paper suggests business model analysis tool and strategies in special business areas. The target customers are information alienated groups and business solution is IT. The social goal is 'Welfare IT' by the new social service and products. The concept of 'Welfare IT' is very broad but it is defined on this paper in very special areas like web accessability, computer resource shortage, IT education, users handicaps and so on. The information alienated people are the old, the poor,handicapped people, farmers and fishers in the countryside. Social enterprises can solve those kinds of problems with disruptive IT innovations. Once successful business model may fail down without re-investment of benefits and social values. Social enterprises can win two goals and survive with virtuous cycle of strategic business model. Case studies with business model analysis tool are beneficial for social enterprises to enter new market. This paper has two American social enterprises analysis cases. Even very successful social enterprise has to manage with new opportunity finding and re-investment. Virtuous cyclic strategic business model is suggested for the value proposition of social enterprise to win the goals again.
