This paper has concentrated on researching the opinions of 448 newcomers who graduated from a cross-section of universities to discover how they feel about their first years of employment after graduation. In focusing on the views and opinions of newcomers in industry, the paper has examined:the choice of the first employer/job, experiences of company training practices, suggestions for improving training, the reasons for changing employers, salary levels and expectation, reasons for satisfaction & dissatisfaction with industry, and improving industry's image.Interviews were also carried out with 16 newcomers to supplement information received from the questionnaire.
